CARIM, the Cardiovascular Institute Maastricht, is an interfaculty institute that carries out research from the molecular level through to complete patient und population analyses. CARIM is one of Europe’s two leading cardiovascular R&D facilities and has international recognition as a centre of excellence in the areas of thrombosis, haemostasis, vascular biology of genes and heart muscle adaptation.

At Aachen’s University Hospital, Professor Peter Hanrath has led Aachen’s international reputation in cardiovascular therapies. The Aachen Centre of Competence for Medical Technology accompanies the commercial exploitation of miniaturized components in cardiovascular and tissue therapies.

With Medos, Impella, Bytec, AID Medical as well as giants such as Medtronic and Boston Scientific, the Meuse Rhine Triangle has a thriving network of companies in the cardiovascular field.
