Back Bio Liège, Life Sciences Limburg and LifeTec Aachen-Jülich join forces and announce the convergence of their conference activities.

Until recently above three life sciences organizations in the regions of Liège, Aachen and Limburg organized their local conference (being Bioforum, Cells at work, LifeTecXchange and Colloquium on Biomaterials) independently but made sure that conference dates were set at 6 month intervals.

The organizations now see the need to reduce the number of conferences in order to improve the conference organization and to increase the quality and Europe wide recognition.

They have combined efforts and decided upon one joined annual conference focusing on core competences that are supported by regional institutes and the majority of companies within the Euregional life sciences cluster.

The first joint Life Sciences conference will take place on 21 and 22 March 2007 at Eurogress Aachen.

The preparation of this annual conference that will take place each year either in Aachen, Liège or Limburg is in progress.

“We contacted already several major sponsors, embracing our ideas and therefore we are confident that this conference will be a big success” says Dr Fred Bollen, Chair of the Life Sciences Triangle Steering Committee in the Euregio Meuse-Rhine.

The three top-ranking conference sessions and core regional competences are

Biomaterials, including tissue engineering and culturing

Medical devices and instruments

Molecular medicine and molecular imaging

Other key topics covered by this conference are: Biopharmaceuticals, Industrial Biotechnology and Food - Green Biotechnology

The name of the conference and the initial program will be revealed in the third quarter of 2006.

The purpose of this pre-announcement is to inform parties about this initiative and kindly ask everybody not to organize any seminar, symposium or conference that might compete with this initiative three weeks before and after the dates of March 21 and 22 in 2007.

Many thanks in advance for your cooperation,

Ute Schelhaas, LifeTecAachen-Jülich e.V.
